Inanna Craig-Morse will spend the coming year in India as the recipient of a U.S. Fulbright Research Fellowship, conducting further research she began two years ago on Indian women's political efficacy and their power to effectively lead others.

Lawrence University sophomore Miles Link was named grand prize winner of the Wisconsin chapter of the 2014 American String Teachers Association solo competition. He received a $500 prize for his winning performance and will perform a series of recitals at several Wisconsin schools during the 2014-15 academic year.

Zechariah Meunier's environmental passion earned him a $5,000 Udall Scholarship. Awarded by the Arizona-based Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation, the scholarships are awarded to students committed to careers related to the environment, Native American health care or tribal policy.

Lawrence University senior Martha McDonnell has been selected as a member of the pit orchestra for the world premiere run of Sting's new musical "The Last Ship," which opens June 10 in Chicago. The production is loosely based on the 16-time Grammy Award winner's ship-building hometown of Wallsend, England. Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, "The Last Ship" is scheduled for a 38-show run in Chicago before heading to Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre in late September.

Helen Titchener has been named a Fulbright Scholar for 2014-15 and will spend 10 months in Berlin, Germany as a teaching assistant.

More than 90 Lawrence University students showcased their voices when the Lawrence Concert Choir and Cantala women's choir performed at the 2014 American Choral Directors Association North Central Regional Conference March 19-20 in Des Moines, Iowa. This is the second time since 2006 Concert Choir and Cantala both were selected to perform at the ACDA's regional conference.

Premiering in 1947, the opera follows the Maurrant family -- Anna, unhappily married to the brutish stagehand Frank, and their two children, Rose and Willie -- and their neighbors through an exceptionally hot 24-hour period in the summer of 1929.
