Eitan Price attends Linguistics Society of America's (LSA) Summer Institute

Eitan Price was keeping good company last summer. The Lawrence University sophomore linguistics major from Carmel, Indiana, attended the Linguistics Society of America's (LSA) Summer Institute, a program mostly attended by graduate students. It is described as an "intellectual summer camp" by its organizers, made to forward the study of linguistics by gathering the foremost professionals and students in linguistics studies. Midway through his sophomore year at Lawrence, Price is now building on what he learned at the Summer Institute.

Lawrence University senior awarded $30,000 Watson Fellowship for wanderjahr

Jack Canfield was one of 50 national recipients of a $30,000 Watson Fellowship, which supports a wanderjahr of independent travel and exploration. His project will take him to French Polynesia, the Republic of the Congo, Norway and Tuva over the course of 12 months beginning in August.

Lawrence University Senior Awarded Fulbright Commission Teaching Appointment in Austria

Senior Elizabeth Perry has been named the recipient of a United States Teaching Assistantship through the Fulbright Commission in Austria. Beginning in October, Perry will begin an eight-month appointment as an English teaching assistant at two secondary schools in Reutte, a small town in the Tirol region of western Austria.

Not Just Fiddlin' Around: Martha McDonnell Helping Launch World Premiere Musical in ChicagoTitle

Lawrence University senior Martha McDonnell has been selected as a member of the pit orchestra for the world premiere run of Sting's new musical "The Last Ship," which opens June 10 in Chicago. The production is loosely based on the 16-time Grammy Award winner's ship-building hometown of Wallsend, England. Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, "The Last Ship" is scheduled for a 38-show run in Chicago before heading to Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre in late September.
